July 5th
The Gulf Park Blue Sharks are on the road again on Tuesday, July 10th at Peninsula Club. It is VERY important that you arrive EARLY (on-time) and that all swimmers STAY until they have finished their LAST EVENT especially if they swim in a relay. When you arrive please check in so the coaches know you are there are ready to swim your events. Team warm ups begin at 5:00pm - please be settled and under the tent in plenty of time.

Volunteer TODAY
We still have volunteer positions we need to fill; let's go ahead and get those
filled and show Peninsula Club what great families we have here at Gulf Park!
Thank you all for volunteering; it truly takes a village of Shark families to
put on a swim meet! Our volunteer coordinator, Christy Ringle will be reaching
out to secure help for all unfilled positions.
Peninsula Club Address:
2222 Houser Road
Knoxville, Tennessee 37919
Below you will find all pertinent information sent by the Peninsula Club Meet Director:
Parking:
We have an upper and lower parking lot available for you to park in. While we do keep our parking lots reserved for the visiting team, they may fill up. If there are no spots left in the main parking lot, please park on Neilwoods Road (across the street from the entrance to the club) but please be respectful of the neighbors who live near the pool by parking respectfully on ONE side of the street. There will be a police officer there around 4 o’clock directing traffic to help keep things going smoothly.
Visiting Team Space:
The visiting team may set up their chairs, etc. to the right as you enter the pool area underneath the pergola. Visitors may also set up chairs along the head of the pool directly as you walk in on the tennis court side and around to the baby pool. The Home team will be set up under the entire far side of the pool. Restrooms are located underneath the covered portion of the pool deck to the left of the concession stand.
Concessions:
Please consider eating at our meet! Our concession stand will be open and will feature Chick-fil-A sandwiches, Dominos Pizza, Tropical Smoothie Cafe, drinks, candy, and other packaged snacks. Please be prepared with cash, as we do not currently have card payment capabilities.
Reminders for all meets…
As with all meets the following applies….
What to Bring:
Please pack a towel, folding chairs, goggles, swim cap and a sweatshirt. A
sharpie pen is also handy for jotting your events on your hand for reference.
It also helps, especially for younger swimmers, to put their name on their back
– this will be helpful to Clerk of Course and others making sure everyone is
where they should be. Many kids also bring hand held electronics, books or
playing cards to pass time between events. (Please be mindful that swimmers are
responsible for all of these belongings).
Misc. Notes...
8 and under parents: Please help your little ones get to their
mark on time. Pay attention to the order of events (the event number is on
display at the starters table) and direct them to the blocks where a volunteer
will line them up. Please bring them to the clerking board for relays, we will
need assistance separating them and getting them to the correct sides of the pool.
Please be sure to check the event boards when you arrive for the most up-to-date swimmer information! Also make sure that your swimmer Picks Up their Event Card for the clerk of course.
It is especially important to take note of relays; Free Relays are the last events of the evening. If your child is scheduled to swim the Free Relay and will be unable to stay for that event, it is imperative to let a Meet Director or Coach know as soon as possible. Remember the relays affect all 4 scheduled swimmers and in many cases a swim meet score is decided by these last events!
Ribbons: As in 2017, for 2018 meets, ribbons will be made for swimmers 12 and under. In the past we have found that 13 and up swimmers are not as interested in ribbons; therefore, to save time and money, 13 and up swimmers will only receive ribbons upon specific request. Ribbons are available at swim practice within 5 days after the meet. If you are missing ribbons, double check the meet results (sent out by Coach Chris soon after each meet) and if the event was not disqualified, let us know and we will get it to you ASAP.
Reminder: No smoking or alcohol at swim meets Per GKAISA rules, all smoking and alcoholic beverages are absolutely prohibited at the pool area in all GKAISA meets - Dual, Tri, Relay and Championship.
See you Tuesday!
Your Gulf Park Blue Shark Meet Directors,
Karen and Keith Clements
