    Week 3 Recap

    This Week at Gulf Park...

    Gulf Park Families,

The highlight of this week was the Blue and White meet. It was fun to see the swimmers try new strokes or new distances! The team also had 183 improved times, which is amazing. We also loved participating in our first time warp! Looking forward to next week, our goal in practice has been working on details preparing for our first dual meet. The 10 and unders worked on going hands first off of the blocks and using our legs to go further through the air. The 11 and overs worked on holding a tight streamline off the walls, doing underwater kicks, and not breathing on the first stroke off of the wall.

    Go Sharks!

    Looking Ahead…

    Gulfwood Meet

We are so excited for our dual meet on Tuesday. Reminder to please go into Swimtopia TODAY and declare if your swimmer will or won’t be in attendance. The theme is neon so come decked out in glow-in-the-dark and neon accessories! For more information on meet logistics, see the email from Stephanie Wasserman.

    Meet Check-In and Conflicts

When you arrive at the meet, please check your swimmer in on the bulletin board under the pavilion. If your swimmer is not officially checked in by warmup without letting us know prior, we will most likely have to make adjustments and remove them from relays.

    Last Minute Conflict?

If your swimmer has an emergency or a conflict arises after RSVPs are due for a meet, please email Coach Annie or Coach Alyssa ASAP. The faster we know, the faster we can make the necessary changes!

    Meet Sportsmanship

We want other teams to feel welcome at our pool and so the coaching staff has been teaching athletes to display high ideals of sportsmanship. This looks like staying in the water until every swimmer in their heat is done and shaking hands or high-fiving the swimmers in the lanes next to them. Please encourage your swimmer to do this!

    New Meet added!

We have added a new dual meet on Thursday, July 9th, at home against University Swim Club. This will allow our swimmers another chance to race before Smokey and City meets! This meet is in Swimtopia now, so you can go ahead and declare your swimmer.

    Need new goggles?

If your swimmer needs new goggles or is having issues with the suction of their goggles when diving, we recommend Speedo Vanquishers. They have an adult size for older swimmers and a junior size for younger swimmers.
