Week 8 Recap
This week at Gulf Park…
Gulf Park Families,
We had a wonderful Smoky Mountain Invitation last weekend. So glad that the weather held out so we could watch the kids swim fast! Congrats to our podium finishers:
- Jack Evers: 1st place in 50 Breast
- Bryson Asper: 2nd place in 50 Fly
- Sophie Riedel: 3rd place in 50 Breast
- Ruie Wormsley: 1st place in 25 Fly and 3rd place in 50 Free
- Hallie Cooperider: 2nd place in 25 Back
- Oliver Fields: 3rd place in 25 Fly
- 9-10 Mixed Relay (Oliver Fields, Ryder Nicuad, Lyla Nicuad, and Hallie Cooperider): 3rd place
The kids were pushed this week in practice so that we could get comfortable being uncomfortable before City Championship this next week. We are very proud of their grit this week as we worked through some difficult practices. Next week, we will be focusing more on starts, turns, and race technique!

Looking Ahead…
City Meet
City meet is this week with the 10 and unders swimming on Thursday, the 11 and overs on Friday, and finals qualifiers swimming on Saturday. You can go into view your athlete’s entries in Swimtopia now! Coach Alyssa and I worked hard to ensure that athletes were in the events that were the best for both them and the team. If you have any questions, please let us know before Monday evening practice! We are not allowed to change anything after Monday afternoon! So excited for the swimmers to show what they can do!
Schedule this week
It is so sad it is the last week of swim team! Monday night will be tie-dye night at the pool, Tuesday night will be poster making, and Wednesday night will be our pasta dinner! Jennifer will be releasing more details on how those events will work, but we will still be having regular practice Monday through Wednesday. Our awards party at the pool will be on Sunday to conclude this wonderful season!
