    Sharks Away..

The Gulf Park Blue Sharks are on the road for the first time this season this Thursday June15th at

    Green Meadow Country Club

    1700 Louisville Rd.

    Alcoa, TN 37701

Team warm ups begin at 5:00pm, please be settled and under the tent in plenty of time.  Please note both event sheet location as well as the clerking location when you arrive on site, prior to warm ups.  Parents, please make sure your child gets their event card and is behind the blocks ready to go for each of their events.  Please do not leave the meet until your swimmer has indeed participated in all of their scheduled events.

Following you will find all pertinent information sent by the Green Meadow Meet Director:

Parking- We have a paved parking lot around our pool. When this overflows, we will have a parking attendant directing cars into the back grassy area behind the parking lot. Cars can also park along the road leading into the club. We will have someone out there, but as long as they don't park on the actual golf course or block any cart paths, its ok. Please ensure that no one parks on the actual golf course

Location- Your team will be located on the far side of our pool, on the concrete pad that is behind the block area. We are feverishly working to try to get a canopy shade built on the back patio, but I would also encourage your team to bring pop-up tents if your families have those. There is more space out there but it definitely will be warm so the more shade the better!

The golf course is directly behind your tent. There is a grassy area and then the cart path dividing the area. Please help us keep kids off of the golf course portion. We will have a lifeguard stationed out there as well. There is a sandtrap that is close to there that is very attractive to the kids

Food/Concessions – We do not allow outside food or drinks into the club. However, for meets, we do allow families to bring snacks, water, gatorade, etc. We just ask that no one bring a large cooler into the meet or try to bring meals for everyone. We have a concession stand that will have typical snack/pool food- drinks, candy, chips. There will also be a grill serving hotdogs and hamburgers and a swim team stand selling baked goods, drinks, and goggles.

    Reminders for all meets…

As with all meets the following applies….

    What to Bring:
For those of you, who are new to the team, please pack a towel, folding chairs, goggles, swim cap and a sweatshirt.  A sharpie pen is also handy for jotting your events on your hand for reference.  It also helps, especially for younger swimmers, to put their name on their back – this will be helpful to Clerk of Course and others making sure everyone is where they should be.  Many kids also bring hand held electronics, books or playing cards to pass time between events.  (Please be mindful that swimmers are responsible for all of these belongings).

    Misc. Notes...
8 and under parents:  Please help your little ones get to their mark on time.  Pay attention to the order of events (the event number is on display at the starters table) and direct them to the blocks where a volunteer will line them up.  Please bring them to the clerking board for relays, we will need assistance separating them and getting them to the correct sides of the pool.  At our pool, all events finish on the Cedar Bluff side of the pool!

Please be sure to check the event boards when you arrive for the most up to date swimmer information!!  Also make sure that your swimmer Picks Up their Event Card for the clerk of course.

It is especially important to take note of relays; Free Relays are the last events of the evening.  If your child is scheduled to swim the Free Relay and will be unable to stay for that event, it is imperative to let a Meet Director or Coach know as soon as possible.  Remember the relays affect all 4 scheduled swimmers and in many cases a swim meet score is decided by these last events!

Ribbons:  As in 2016, for 2017 meets, ribbons will be made for swimmers 12 and under.  In the past we have found that 13 and up swimmers are not as interested in ribbons; therefore, to save time and money, 13 and up swimmers will only receive ribbons upon specific request.  Ribbons are available at swim practice within 5 days after the meet.  If you are missing ribbons, double check the meet results (sent out by Coach Chris soon) and if the event was not disqualified, let us know and we will get it to you ASAP.

Reminder: No smoking or alcohol at swim meets
Per GKAISA rules, all smoking and alcoholic beverages are absolutely prohibited at the pool area in all GKAISA meets - Dual, Tri, Relay and Championship.

    See you Thursday!

Your Gulf Park Blue Shark Meet Directors,

    Matt and Jennifer Manrod
